Insights Career Network Appoints Michael Brereton to Board

The Insights Career Network (ICN), the premier volunteer-led community dedicated to supporting professionals in the market research and insights industry, is proud to announce the appointment of Michael Brereton to its Board of Directors.

As a working board, ICN directors are directly involved in the hands-on execution of the organization’s mission: providing peer support, career resources, paths to learning and training, and networking opportunities for insights professionals at every stage of their journey. Brereton’s appointment marks a significant milestone for the ICN as it continues to scale its impact within the global insights community.

Brereton, currently the Executive in Residence at Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business, brings a wealth of executive experience to this volunteer role. Having previously served as the President and CEO of Maritz Research, he offers a rare combination of high-level strategic vision and a deep-seated passion for mentorship and industry evolution.

“The ICN thrives on the ‘working board’ model, where our leaders are as much ‘doers’ as they are advisors,” said Simon Chadwick, Chair of the ICN Board. “Michael has spent his career not just leading organizations, but actively shaping the standards and education of our profession. His willingness to roll up his sleeves and contribute his expertise to our volunteer initiatives will be transformative for our members.”

In his role on the board, Brereton will help steer ICN’s strategic programming and strengthen its bridge between academic excellence and professional practice. His background as a former Chairman of the Insights Association (CASRO) and his current role as Co-Academic Director for the MS in Marketing Research at MSU align perfectly with ICN’s goal of fostering a more connected, informed, and resilient workforce.

“I have long admired the ICN’s commitment to the people who make up the heart of our industry,” said Brereton. “Joining this volunteer board is an opportunity to give back in a tangible, meaningful way. I look forward to working alongside this dedicated team to build the tools and networks that help our peers navigate their careers in this rapidly changing decision intelligence landscape.”

Brereton joins a diverse group of volunteer leaders who dedicate their time to ensuring that the Insights Career Network remains a vital, free-to-access resource for the community.
