From a young age, Mitchell has always been enamored by all things food and beverage. Growing up in Wilton, Connecticut, he got his first job at 15, helping out in the cafeteria in his father's office building, and has been a student of the industry ever since. After High School, Mitchell graduated from the Culinary Institute of America as Valedictorian with a degree in Culinary Arts. This led him to a job at The Breakers Resort in Palm Beach, Florida where he studied wine under Master Sommeliers Virginia Philip and Juan Gomez. Mitchell took the rigorous Certified Sommelier exam in May of 2018, consisting of a lengthy written assessment, service demonstrations, and the infamous blind tasting assessment, passing with the highest score. Following this achievement he went back to school and earned his Bachelors Degree in Food and Beverage Management. Mitchell then took his talents to Miami Beach, home to some of the most luxurious hotels and prestigious restaurants in the world.
Mitchell currently works as the head of the wine program at the Miami Beach Edition, one of Marriott's newest luxury brands. At night he can be found at the hotel's famous Matador Room restaurant, a hip and lively Miami Beach staple by world renowned chef Jean-Gorges Vongerichten. At work, Mitchell is passionate about sharing his knowledge and love for wine with his guests, while also working to amass an impressive collection of rare and exquisite bottles.
