Research + Insights at Microsoft is led by Jon Derome, whose career has spanned politics, research, consulting and analytics for some of the world’s largest companies. During his tenure at Microsoft, Jon has held positions as Senior Director of Cloud Market Research, Office, Consumer Lifetime Value and M365. He has also worked as Director of Windows Consumer Market Research and Server and Tool Research. Jon has proven experience in both consumer and commercial business areas and he is noted for his ability to analyze complex data to provide actionable insights as well as lead and inspire diverse teams.
Prior to Microsoft, Jon worked at SAP, The Yankee Group and IDC on global B2B and technology brands. Jon’s experience included analyzing markets and using data to influence engineering resource allocation, marketing and business planning decisions.
Jon’s analytical skills, his love of philosophy and his business acumen drives him to innovate and push the practice of research through new research methodologies and innovations that help answer critical business questions.
A Boston native, Jon is based in Seattle, Washington, and is deeply involved and he is interested in causes that benefit education, data democratization and policy.
