Dr. David Cantor leads the Gates Foundation’s U.S. Policy, Advocacy, and Communications strategic analytics portfolio, responsible both for internal and external research. David manages a portfolio of education investments that include strategic planning, public opinion dynamics, and consulting with grantees as they expand their insights capacity.
David has over two decades of experience in qualitative, quantitative, and cutting edge research methodologies, working with major foundations, non-profit organizations, political candidates, ballot initiative campaigns, labor organizations and corporations.
David joined the Foundation from the Glover Park Group, where he led the research team and the firm’s education practice. David’s work at GPG focused on translating research insights into messages and strategies. Prior to joining The Glover Park Group, David was Vice President at Lake Snell Perry & Associates. At Lake, David worked on political campaigns across the country and led the environmental and health care policy research teams. He also designed, managed and analyzed the prestigious bipartisan Battleground poll. Before joining LSPA, he worked as Vice President and senior research analyst for Abacus Associates where he conducted extensive research on attitudes toward public education across the country.
