Schedule

With organizations across consumer insights scrambling to assess if and how Generative AI can effectively be leveraged in its processes, we must pause to consider the repercussions. AI is prone to bias, we hear. How, exactly? What can be done to identify and mitigate bias and ensure processes automated for time and cost savings do not become deleterious and counteract efforts to make insights more inclusive, equitable, and accessible? We will discuss these issues at this year’s IDEA (Inclusion Diversity, Equity & Access) Forum

Generative AI for Good

Generative AI may hold the unlock to reducing or eliminating the structural barriers that exist in Hollywood’s production and greenlight process. We know those same barriers have stood in the way of the future’s most promising, under-represented creatives i.e. Black, Latino/a, queer, persons with a disability, etc. When new sources of innovation meet technology, it has the power to create greater access, equity and inclusion. In fact, generative AI text, text-to-image and text-to-video is already doing so. Many i.e. Black and Latino/a creators are using Midjourney, DALL-E 2, Stable Diffusion and other GAN tools to create images that lean into liberatory futures. From an industry perspective, this could be a gamechanger for development and pre-production - i.e. pitching more imaginative look books, scripts and show bibles, discovering new sub-genres and content areas, and moving through the creative process faster and smoother. How can we imagine new and exciting creative futures through generative AI?

Reskilling and Upskilling for AI

Generative AI, ChatGPT and other tools to help us to maximize insights for our clients. It’s not just about the technology, it’s also about the skills insights professionals will need in order to bring value to the process. Prompt Engineering and the complexities of getting to the right information is a new skill but can also be a tremendously important capability. Where is our industry in preparing people to use Generative IA responsibly? What other skills will be important to ensure responsible use of AI happens in the beginning, rather than at the end? How can we create a representative marketplace with the skills and access to inject responsible practices at the onset.

Bias^2 (Bias Squared): How the Collide of Implicit and ChatGPT Biases Threaten DEI

There are over 100M users of ChatGPT who predominantly identify as male and the platform reflects a very Westernized, English-speaking culture. How do the 5 categories of ChatGPT Bias compound with our natural implicit biases to lead to untrustworthy output? How can they serve to erode the trajectory of our progress made in Diversity, Equity and inclusion?

Help!!! My Generative AI Model Has Fallen and It Can't Get Up!!!

This session aims to build on the work of Chen. Zhou, and Zahara (2023) which shows that generative AI performance fluctuates over time and that improvements in the training set for one portion of the model may lead to degradation in other parts of the model. The implication of this is that testing of bias in generative AI needs to be periodic and wide ranging. In this session, we will propose a test suitable to understand shifts in bias.
Participants will learn:

  • The extent of changes over time in generative AI models. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
  • How to measure bias in outcomes of the model used
  • A framework to measure shifts in bias in generative AI models that directly pertains to the work one is doing with it.

Panel Discussion - Calls to Action / Next Steps

This session reflects on the ideas from a pioneering visionary in applying GenAI in the metaverse, a media giant urging us to use GenAI for good, a talent and skilling expert highlighting the increased importance of non-technical skills such as creativity and cultural sensitivity, an academics’ research demonstrating why GenAI performance must be continuously monitored, an industry veteran explaining how GenAI can exponentially promote implicit bias and ponders what’s next from a variety of angles for our industry as it relates to creating more responsible GenAI, which benefits us all. Hear the call to action from industry leaders, agitators, and promoters of progressive technology.
