We learned late yesterday that Sharon Mutter has passed away suddenly of natural causes. The owner of Sharon Mutter Field Services and an industry legend, Sharon had recently retired and planned for many months to attend MRA’s Insights & Strategies Conference where many were looking forward to seeing her.

Sharon had been an active and vital member of MRA for 32 years. In addition to receiving the Honorary Lifetime Membership Award in 2005, Sharon also received MRA’s Award of Excellence in 1997, Distinguished Service Award in 1999, and the Great Lakes Chapter Service Award in 1997.

MRA published a retirement tribute to Sharon on page 70 in the most recent issue of Alert!.

Sharon had a boundless ability to give to others. In doing so, she became a part of all who she met, and through those gifts leaves the research community forever better and grateful to her.

MRA extends its condolences to her family, including her extended family in MRA and especially in the Great Lakes Chapter of MRA.

We will publish funeral arrangements when they become available. Sharon’s daughter Lisa Freestone may be contacted at 943 W. Indigo Street, Mesa, AZ 85201 or l.freestone@mail.com
