SurveyUSA (@SurveyUSA) has an interesting series of blog posts which examine issues of functionality and validity in Google’s new Consumer Surveys offering. Although many appear critical of the Google effort, the criticisms are based on legitimate research concerns, many of which Google has ignored or discussed only superficially in its sole publicly available white paper on Consumer Surveys.

I highlight the SurveyUSA posts because much of what I’ve seen written about Google Consumer Surveys focuses on pricing, turnaround time or ease of authoring a survey (as does Google’s own documentation). Those are all important considerations in selecting a survey tool, but IMO data quality is the ultimate criterion — and one on which Google seems to be falling short.
