The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Information Network (O*NET) provides a detailed database of worker attributes describing 900+ occupations, for use by job seekers, workforce development and HR professionals, students, analysts, researchers, and others. We once again have the opportunity to participate in this important initiative to help ensure that the complexities of the marketing research and analytics industry are described accurately in the O*NET Database for the American public, for career exploration and job analysis.

The Insights Association has been asked to help identify occupational experts (OEs) for the occupation of Business Intelligence Analysts, who produce financial and market intelligence by querying data repositories and generating periodic reports and devise methods for identifying data patterns and trends in available information sources. A sample of reported job titles includes: Business Intelligence Analyst; Business Intelligence Manager; Commercial Intelligence Manager; Competitive Intelligence Analyst; Consultant, Strategic Business and Technology Intelligence; Director of Enterprise Strategy; Director of Market Intelligence; Director, Global Intelligence; Intelligence Analyst; and Manager, Market Intelligence.

For O*NET data collection purposes, OEs usually have five or more years of experience with an occupation. They may also have experience as a supervisor or trainer as well as the expertise to rate the occupation on tasks, knowledge areas, work context factors, and work activities.

If you meet these qualifications, the Insights Association urges you to contact Traci Davis of RTI International at 877-233-7348, ext. 109, or by e-mail at tdavis@onet.rti.org to assist in this endeavor.

We encourage you to consider helping to keep information about our industry accurate and current for the benefit of our colleagues and the nation. Thanks for your help and support.
